Virtual catalogues

Virtual catalogues are the equivalents of card catalogues which can be found in Cieszyn Library reading rooms, namely:

►Manuscripts (Archives of the Polish Ethnological Society, manuscripts from Leopold Jan Szersznik’s Library, the Deanery Library, Saint Mary Magdalene Roman Catholic Parish in Cieszyn, and the Reger Files);
►Books;
►Magazines;
►Leopold Jan Szersznik’s Library (catalogues of old prints and prints from the 19th and 20th century);
►the People’s Library (catalogues of old prints and prints from the 19th and 20th century);
►Józef Ignacy Kraszewski’s Library (catalogues of old prints and prints from the 19th and 20th century);
►Library of the Polish Ethnological Society (catalogues of manuscripts, old prints and prints from the 19th and 20th century);
►the Deanery Library which is deposited in Cieszyn Library;
►Tadeusz Reger’s Library.

The abovementioned catalogued collections are being described using the computer system. This process has already been finished with regard to: manuscripts from the collection of Leopold Jan Szersznik and Tadeusz Reger (the so-called Reger Files) (they are available in the manuscript catalogue), Leopold Jan Szersznik’s Library (prints published up to and including 1800 are available in the old prints catalogue, whereas books published from 1801 onwards are available in the historic books catalogue), old prints from other historic collections (they are available in the old prints catalogue), and 19th and 20th century prints from the Library of the Polish Ethnological Society and Tadeusz Reger’s Library (they are available in the historic collections catalogue).

 Entering the remaining items from historic book collections into the computer system is in progress and until it is finished, virtual catalogues are a necessary addition to online catalogues.
